Oh, Eastern Market, how I love thee. No, really I do, it’s probably one of the best outdoor (and indoor) farmer’s markets in the area. Problem is, it’s about a 30 – 45 minute drive from my house, and I won’t even begin to talk about parking. If I could I would go every day, just to pick up some fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables from local farmers. Maybe even eat a crepe, or stand in line at Market Lunch, on a Saturday morning. Well, if I could skip the line, in a VIP kind of way, I would totally do it. However, I don’t see that happening anytime soon, so I’ll just wait like everyone else.
Get a Ring On It: How to Get Your Significant Other to Propose
8 Feb
With Valentine’s Day only a week away, I thought I’d give some advice on how to get your significant other to pop the question, propose, or my personal favorite, thanks to Beyonce, put a ring on it. I’ve been giving it a lot of thought lately because of a couple I met at my company’s holiday party this past December. As Mr. Donut and I were getting to know Jim and Debi, they asked us how long we had been dating? I dread this question because once we tell people how long we’ve been together, it is immediately followed by why haven’t you guys gotten married yet? Don’t you want to get married? What’s the hold up? What people don’t realize is when you’ve been with someone since you were a teenager, eight years really isn’t a long time. Regardless, I hate to lie, so I told them the truth, eight years. To that we got the expected confused head tilt to the side, and then, “You’re not married yet?” To that we responded with our usual statement of, no not yet, it will probably happen one day, just not right now.
Apple Foster Cupcakes
12 NovJuly 25, 2010, a day that will forever be engraved in my memory. The day I ruined a birthday. Ok, I know it sounds dramatic but it’s true. Every year, I try to do something special for my boyfriend… Side Note: I read so many blogs with women and men who have such cute little nicknames for their significant other, like Mr. ABC or my love, my sweetheart, my baby, etc. It brings me back to when my boyfriend and I first started dating and decided to give each other nicknames. I didn’t want to give him a typical name like pumpkin, muffin, dumpling, or sweetie. Since everyone else likes to use food as a nickname, I chose Donut. Yep, that’s right, Donut. It’s got a ring to it don’t ya think? Now that we are older I think I’m going to change it to Mr. Donut. It sounds more sophisticated.
